Ola! :D

Whaooo, it's been a long time. I decided that my yearly Timor post is one not to be forgo-ed, since I discovered that people realise that East Timor is not really in the east and in some far away cold place through my yearly post.

And thus here I am, sitting here one day before youth camp with an unpacked bag and a throbbing headache. But still, the desire to record every detail I can still remember outshines everything else!

I'm probably going to start crying and breaking down halfway because yes, hau hanoin barak wanhira Timor Leste tebes-tebes(I miss Timor Leste alot alot). But that's also not as important as the message that I wanna share to whoever still reads my rather dead blog - the beauty of Timor Leste.

Nina&Nela

Almost immediately upon our arrival, we met Isabel Ferreira's next door neighbours, Nina & Nela! These 2 adorable girls would consequently crash all our meetings and jump on us like monkeys, bugging us to play games with them.









They have that game too! I forgot its name, but its a traditional malay game I think. Just that we play with marbles and wodden boards and they play with plastic boards and seeds they picked from the floor which they keep in an empty milk bottle. I never figured its actual rules though, LOL.

We did a 3 day children's church holiday programme with them wednesday - friday, and for the morning sessions it was like agapeland with a translater to alot alot alot more kids. There were about 150 kids, which was apparently the Class 1 - Class 4 divided by half.

The programme was great, and every day was tiring but fulfilling. It taught me how to love the children, all of them, love their hearts, and love their singing. One thing wonderful about the kids that no matter how rowdy/violent/restless/inattentive they are, once you start singing and dancing for Jesus, they stop throwing each other aroud/fighting/making alot of noise and just start singing and dancing along.

These kids are born to sing, that's for sure.

The afternoon session shrinked greatly from the expected 50kids to 15kids, and at first I was really disappointed because my whole class 6 didn't turn up. But God taught me how to love, be surrendered to His purpose, and showed me the potential and the joy brought to each of these.

Interaction with the kids

I think this was the highlight of all three days. Interacting with the children, talking to them, playing with them, and getting to know each of their personalities was really enjoyable. These kids are full of life and vigour, and a joy to know and be around. The language barrier didn't faze us, and we communicated through our lil bit of tetun, drawings, laughter,playing, and singing.

The progress is amazing, and I saw so many Timorese climbing up & down this time around! I even met these 2 super cute children WHOSE PHOTOS ARE IN ISABELS CAMERA lol.

The Lesson On Surrender

Okay so I mentioned that the whole Class 6(which is the class I took last year) didn't turn up righttt. What I haven't mentioned is that I had their photos with me, which was actually meant for them, and so I asked the teachers where they were and all, and they told me that they left.

I was extremely, horribly, terribly devestated. I thought I would never be able to see them again, never be able to find out how they were, if they were still schooling or even dead or alive. It was really hard for me to swallow that I had no choice but accept it and just go on, because that was just how it was there in Timor.

I was forced to surrender them to God, but in the midst of it I learnt how to, since surrender is a major stronghold in my life. I left them in the hands of God, knowing that He loves them so much more than I ever can, & left it at that.

And God is so cool, and His grace is more than sufficent for me, because the next day I found out that there had been a miscommunication through translation and they were all still schooling in Shalom but just had 'left' for the mountains for the holidays. -.-

It just showed me how as long as I leave things in God's hands, He will bring it to pass.

And then and then, I have this favourite boy from last year, Leandro, who also just like the rest of his class didn't turn up. I met Filimena right, and she told me that she and Leandro are from the same village and she could bring me to his house and I was overjoyed BUTTHEN Ps Thomas didn't allow 'cos there were still people throwing stones and all & I was all ):

BUTTHEN BUTTHEN at night I surrendered once again to God and thanked Him that I already knew Leandro was alive, well, and still schooling, and that was already more than enough and so I didn't have to see him and I knew that God would continue to take care of him and all AND THEN AND THEN THE NEXT DAY

Just out of nowhere okay! I screamed and screamed and screamed and I think he got abit scared HAHAHA. I found out later that Filimena had told him that I was in Timor and was going to paint the school with the rest of the older kids and all AND SO HE CAME HE CAME HE CAME :) I was so super overjoyedddddddddddddddddd (:

Painting the school was a blast with the kids around, and I spent more time talking to them than painting LOL. But they paint better than me, and by the time I deligated a paint area to each of them there weren't even enough paint brushes left for me lah HAHAA. But I did do some flowers and rainbows lahhh heheh.

The Last Day



We had a time of appreciation for Isabel Ferreira, who was awesome to bear with all our noise and nonsense and lizard screaming despite her malaria. She's such a strong woman, with such big dreams for her school and her children. And I know in due time, because she stands firm in God with such a big and loving heart, and she believes in the potential of her school, Shallom will expand to much more than it is today, as we have already seen it grown through the years (:





The kids came all the way to Isabel's house to bid us farewelllllllllllll! So sweet right all of them? I love each of them to bits and pieces and I took a whole bunch of photos BUT THEY'RE ALL IN ISABEL(LOW)'S CAMERAAAAAAAAAAAA ): I shall upload them next time heehee.

Said our final goodbyes, and dearest Primus decorated his box so nicely with all his little aluminium thingys inside. I have 2 airplanes and 1 soilder to date, (:. I'll upload pictures of it next time too! And Leandro gave me his necklace, possibly the only necklace he has he is the sweetest sweeteset thing everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I've been wearing it every day since.



Their waves and smiles as we drove off broke my heart, ): I miss them to bits!

OH YES HOW COULD I EVER FORGETTTTT, dearest professor ahleeeeeeeeeee was the best ever. She cooked breakfast for us, killed lizards for us, carried fans for us, gave us her shoulder to cry on, made us laugh every other second and took very good care of us.

God has taught me much on this trip, and I realised also that Timor is progressing. Simple things, like railings and proper staircases, lights, a first foodcourt, and internet at the airport(3 computers, no less) that we take for granted in singapore but always brings a smile to my face when I discover them in Timor.

The nation is growing, and in due time, with our help, it will grow into the country it is meant to be. I will continue coming back, and never stop, because every little bit means the world to them. And so I'll give all I can, even though its not alot, and leave God for the rest.

It takes only about $8 to support a Timorese youth through 1 month of education. This goes towards paying for his/her uniform, food, fees for teachers and teaching resources. If anyone at all is interested, or wants to know more, or anything in the world regarding Timor, feel free to tag/msn/fb me. I know I sound like an advertistment, but please bear with me! (:

AND finally, kudos to Jasmine for helping me with the project in school! The clothes collected have already been given to the school, and the books will be transported safely probably during the trip in January. These kids have a huge passion for learning, and want to learn English, so I think the books will be in good use (:

Friday the 13th

1/4 of cell + the girls + pool = rather interesting HAHAHAHA. Left the girls t play CS & L4D for awhile and my oh my did I miss it but boy oh boy do I suck even more now that I haven't played in eons haahahahha.

Yh&Jay stayed over(dace couldn't because she had manicure appt) & we all used our lappys till we fell asleep. Like literally, look at how Jay slept :

& then I fell sick on Tuesday but was a naughty girl and cabbed to COE and got my just returns by getting chased out of school because of my hair -.-. Was so pissed and wanted t climb in but there were NPCC everywhereeeeeeee arghhhhhhhhh. Went t the doc & went home & dace came to take care of me :D. But in the end she just watched her show while I slept la -.-.

AND I went for Daryl's concert thing and vommited all over the road on the way.

AND THEN wednesday I was an even naughtier girl and I went out to do the mime thing and bowl and pool hehehe.





Stalker! HAHAHA we bumped into him so he ended up coming along with us THIS FAKER HE. It was a very weird but interesting mix of people ahahahaha.

Everyone else went back(including dear Jas, thank you for everyt!) & dace came & we pei-ed jh dye his hair AND I CHOSE THE COLOUR AND I GOT GOOD TASTE LOR its not bad now thanks to me hahahaha he owes me oneeeeee.

And THEN THEN I got really really sick and have been stuck at home these past 2 days. Am feeling better now, but there's loads more Timor prep to do.

SO byeeeeeeeeee will update if I have the time which I doubt I will so the next post might be my annual Timor<3 post. I'm flying off in 4 days 4 days 4 days can you imagineeeeeeeeee *screams*. This trip's gonna boomzxzxzxzx :D.

It still hasn't sunk in that I'm not a deyian anymore. :(

On another note, I love my girls because they are so loser that they go to a horror movie thinking it's a chick flick. HAHAHAHAHA!

& my alarm clocks are very nice, HEHEH.

Whao, I haven't been here in the longest time, like a month?

I've been studying lahhh, and my pictures have been rusting in my phone and camera. I try to take pictures of every table I study at, so by the end of Os I'll have a whole collection of tables! :D.

Anyw, today is the last day of school, forever.

=/, these four years have really flown by super fast. I still remember being small-ish and getting bullied in Sec One. Things have changed so much these past 4years, but the bullying stuck lah huh, HAHAHA. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss getting locked up in class, the whackings and imitations, my handphone or wallet missing, and the insects in my pencilbox.

Okay I take back the last one, LOL.

I've learnt alot here lah, & I really can't imagine not being in Deyi. I mean, there really is no place like, HAHA. Ohwelll, I'll save the nostalgia for graduation(which is next friday like O.O), and just study for now.

I therefore concluded it was impossible to do and promptly skipped that question. True to sarahee's genius, weijie also cannot do. HAHAH!

Went for dinner, & had HTHT w sarahee! :D. Had time to kill, so went to udders to eat on a wimp and for more HTHT, =).

Friday

MET UP WITH CHARLYN YEO!!!

Hahahah haven't met up w that girl at all in 2009 please! That's 9 months mannnn! Missed her like crazyyyyyyyy, =).

Met her at somerset, was planning to catch I Love You Beth Cooper. But then there were no more seats, so on a whimp we decided to watch GFORCE! ahahahaha, it was quite cute lah! & the first kids show where I couldn't guess who the bad guy was! LOL.

After the show, walked around ochard talking! HAHA, we were planning to window shop for shoes, but it failed rather badly because we just kept talking, and ended up sitting at the taka fountain catching up on 9mths' worth, :D.

Somehow wandered over to ochard central, & the place is gigantic and strangely quiet! There's like a random rockclimbing wall also LOL! But it's a nice place lah, =D.

HAHA fun leh! But my whole hand red, and it was cos I got whacked by t ball thrown by clarence of all people!!!!! :(.

In the tradition of firstdays, I got bullied like crazy as per usual. I realised that only after, I forever get the most cham every first day after hols. They miss bullying me la hor, -.-
